Our History
The founders of Knoxville Christian School shared a common vision. A vision of teaching students from a Biblical worldview. A vision of offering a needed quality education alternative in changing times. A vision for the future.
Founded in 1967, Knoxville Christian School is an independent private school dedicated to providing each student with the highest quality academic, spiritual, social and physical education in an encouraging Christian environment. Our school serves students ranging from 18 months old through 12th grade in our prime location in Farragut, TN, conveniently located in west Knox County.
Knoxville Christian School built the first building on its current campus in 1980. Today this building serves at the elementary building, along with housing the Pre-K classrooms. Knoxville Christian School expanded with its upper school building for Middle School and High School in 2011. In 2013 the high school gym with additional classroom space was built.
Statement of Faith
The Statement of Faith of Knoxville Christian School, signed annually by each member of the Board of Trustees, administration, faculty, and staff, provides affirmation of biblical doctrine that is in concert with the message of God as reflected in the Bible and historic Christianity. The statement also defines the perspective that shapes our education. Our Statement of Faith clarifies and insures ongoing faithfulness of the entire school community to God’s purpose and will.
We believe in one God, the Creator of the Universe and the Giver of Life. (Deuteronomy 6:4-5; Hebrews 11:3; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Act 17:24-28)
We believe in Jesus Christ, who is the Son of God and co-equal with the Father. (John 1:1-3; 14, 18; Acts 2:23-24, 36; I Timothy 2:5; John 14:6)
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the presence of God, in the lives of believers. (John 14:16-17; Romans 8:9-14; Galatians 5:22-23; Ephesians 4:11-13)
We believe the Bible, the Old and New Testament, is the inspired Word of God, written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit, and is entirely true. (2 Peter 1:20-21; John 17:17; 2 Timothy 3:16-17)
We believe Jesus Christ came to restore not only our relationship with God – but also to bring unity and dignity to men and women of all races, ages, and classes. (Galatians 3:26-29; Ephesians 2:11-22; John 17:20-26; Acts 10:9-23; Colossians 3:11-14)
We believe the Bible teaches that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female, and that those two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God. God ordained marriage and defined it as the covenant relationship between a man, a woman, and God Himself. This institution will only recognize marriages between a biological man and a biological woman. (1 Corinthians 7). The unique roles of the male and female are clearly defined in Scripture and Romans 1:24-32 condemns the homosexual lifestyle. (Romans 12:1-2; 1 Corinthians 6:9-20; Ephesians 4:1-11, 5:3-5; 1 Thessalonians 4:3-8; 1 Timothy 4:12; 2 Timothy 2:19-22; 1 Peter 1:15-16,2:15-17; 1 John 3:1-3).
We believe that all people are created in the image of God and have tremendous potential for good, but we are all marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called sin. As a result of our sin, we have a shattered and broken relationship with God that can only be made whole through Jesus Christ. Salvation is God’s free gift (grace) to us but we must accept it by acknowledging Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior (confessing); turning from our sinful lifestyle (repentance); being immersed in water (baptism); and trusting in Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of our sins. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. (Romans 5:1, 3:23, 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9, John 1:12; 14:6; Titus 3:5; Galatians 3:26; Acts 2:38)
We believe that beliefs are far more than intellectual affirmations: Our faith impacts our actions. Therefore, these faith statements will be the guiding principles for decision making for both institutional direction and for each individual entrusted with responsibility within Knoxville Christian School (James 2:19-20; Matthew 15:18-20; 1 Corinthians 6:9-11).
