Elementary School

Our elementary curriculum is focused on collaboration, critical thinking, and problem-solving. With each subject taught, students are encouraged to examine the material through a biblical lens.  Faith and love of God greatly influence the way students are taught and nurtured at Knoxville Christian School.

Our end goal is to develop students spiritually and academically, while helping them identify their talents to serve God.

Collaboration

Our elementary students thrive in a collaborative learning environment, engaging in projects with their peers and benefiting from the guidance of older mentors through our Knights and Pages program.

Research shows that collaboration enhances problem-solving skills, boosts confidence, and deepens understanding, all of which are essential for young learners to succeed both academically and socially.

Critical Thinking

Our curriculum is designed to engage elementary students in critical thinking by encouraging them to ask questions, analyze information, and explore the world around them through a biblical worldview.

By integrating lessons that emphasize God’s creation and purpose, students gain a foundation rooted in faith, while also learning about diverse perspectives and ideas.

This balanced approach equips students to navigate complex topics thoughtfully, fostering respect, understanding, and the ability to engage with different viewpoints in a meaningful, Christ-centered way.

Problem Solving

Our elementary curriculum emphasizes problem-solving by inviting students to think creatively and explore various approaches to overcome challenges.

This focus not only fosters their confidence in tackling obstacles but also instills the belief that every problem can be resolved through innovative thinking and perseverance.

Reading

With our Bob Jones University Reading curriculum being implemented, you can rest assured that your child has access to one of the top-level reading curriculums available. Your child’s reading skills are crucial to their success in school as those skills will allow them to access the breadth of the curriculum, which improves both communication and language skills.

Spelling

Just like with Reading, your child’s spelling skills are very important to their overall success rate in school. At Knoxville Christian, we strive to improve the child’s reading ability through spelling instruction.

Math

Math introduces children to various concepts and critical thinking strategies that are essential to the child’s educational journey and even beyond their time spent in education.

Bible

Bible instruction is a critical aspect of every day at Knoxville Christian. Children have the opportunity to study and learn God’s word and their identity in Christ.

Spanish

Being taught Spanish, or a foreign language of any kind, at a young age can help a child succeed throughout his or her lifetime. Linguistic skills will teach your child not only how to communicate with other cultures but also to learn about the importance of other cultures in our world today.

Art/Music

Art and music are both very important steps to developing creative skills. Through art and music, children are able to fully express themselves, as well.

Physical Education

Physical education at an early age helps children to develop necessary motor skills and coordination, as well as to improve the overall health of the child.

Our elementary teachers, rooted in their faith in Christ, are passionate about more than just teaching—they’re committed to nurturing the whole child. With a focus on spiritual, academic, social, and emotional growth, they lead by example, guiding students to unlock their full potential. Our teachers are dedicated to helping each child discover and use their unique strengths and talents in a way that honors God.

From the Principal

At KCS, students are encouraged to thrive and grow in a nurturing, interdisciplinarity, and Christ-centered environment.  Our curriculum helps students build faith, character, and confidence in who Christ has designed them to be, while sparking their curiosity about the world around them. They are supported and encouraged as they discover their talents and reach their goals through problem solving, collaboration, and critical thinking.

Our elementary students engage in daily bible lessons, and weekly chapels.  Our Knights and Pages mentoring program is a long-held tradition where our elementary students and middle/high school students partner together to encourage and inspire each other in their faith walk through monthly meetings on campus.  Ultimately, we hope your child grows in faith to love and serve the Lord!
